Research

Whether you are a historian, a geologist, a zoologist, an engineer, an astronaut, a mathematician, or a musician – there’s a lot you can do to help aid our research. Tell us about your area of specialization and let’s get talking. There are many projects that are just waiting to kickstart and can’t be done until we hear from you.

We are in middle of creating a virtual research team and this is just the beginning of how exciting it can get. We want rational and scientific answers to many crucial questions and set off into the unknown. There’s a lot to discover.

For more information, contact us.

Current Projects: Under the guidance of our head of Research Dr. Harish Chandra, we have a one ongoing research project and a couple in mind for future to explore them further. It will be great to hear from any researchers at a prestigious centre who may be interested, possibly leading to a collaborative research project with us.

Ongoing project is tenatively titled "A study of the effects of Patanjali Meditation on human behaviour"
and more information will be released on it as soon as our data and findings are finalised. For future possible projects, please see below:

Background: Modern view is that the human consciousness is resultant of the phenomena occurring in our brain and those phenomena include cognition, emotion, thought processes leading to decision making, and action. Modern disciplines of neurology, neuroscience, psychology, philosophy and so on attempt to explore and understand the complex processes/phenomena occurring in our brain and correlate it with different human functions.

The Vedas are a huge body of literature. Its content may be broadly said to be describing ‘Vedic philosophy’. Because of its inherent strength, the Vedic literature shouldn’t be overlooked by a serious researcher in any discipline that has been covered in the classical Vedic literature, such as cognitive human behaviour. In particular, there exists interest in the discipline of Yoga and it is well known that Yoga gives rise to overall wellbeing.

Modern View and Vedic Philosophy - a Correlation: There should be an attempt to correlate the modern view of neurology and psychology with theVedic philosophy as far as possible. It is hoped that it will shed some light to the complex domain of human cognition. Possible research topics could, therefore, be:

1. Kapila’s Description of Human Mind and Its Correlation with Modern Neurology: A comparative description of how different cognitive functions take place in the Vedic philosophy and modern psychology and their possible correlation.

2. Meditation and Self-Awareness:
An Investigation into Human Consciousness - Patanjali states that the ultimate depth of a meditative state leads to ‘awareness of the self’ which is the final seat of our consciousness and the presiding entity of the body-mind combine that includes brain too. Investigations based on meditation practitioners may shed some light on our consciousness and its interaction with the body-mind combine.

Possible Modalities: An interested researcher registered with a university department will possibly conduct one of the suggested research topics under the guidance of a university professor from the modern viewpoint as well as from our Head of Research from the viewpoint of the Vedic philosophy.
