Nobody is too old or too young to be a part of our growing team. We pride ourselves in regularly working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and walks of life. Here are but a handful of volunteers from our huge team (the list is not comprehensive yet as more names are to follow) :

Dr Harish Chandra

Harish Chandra is a UK based scientist and thinker. Chandra obtained his first degree (B. Tech.) in aeronautical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur, India, 1974 with Distinction. He then proceeded to attend the Graduate School of Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, USA, specializing in mathematical simulation of combustion processes in internal combustion engines. He obtained his doctorate degree (Ph. D.) from Princeton in 1979.
A Combustion Scientist: He worked as an Advisor to the Engine Research Department of Volkswagen, the largest automobile industry in Germany, 1979-83. Thereafter he was Head, Basic Engine Research, in the Indian Automotive Research Institute in Pune, India until 1994. During 1995-96 he was a Visiting Scientist in the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway. During his world-class research career, he attended research conferences in many countries and published about 25 research papers in international journals.
A Spiritual Scientist: Throughout he remained an intensive reader of the Vedic literature, including that of Panini grammar. His workshop SCOPE (Stress Control for Personal Enhancement) benefited thousands of participants worldwide. He has delivered talks/ workshops at various international platforms for a wide array of audience, including corporate bodies like Ford, Time Warner, Johnson & Johnson, Educational Departments for the UK Government and several Vegetarian Societies and conferences throughout the world. He has authored a number of books and articles on the related topics and writes frequently for Center for Inner Sciences, including the monthly e-magazine SpiritMag.

Lily alden

Lily is one of the founding members of the charity, and takes care of all the public relations of our group as she loves to talk! She also works in media and tries to juggle her time between the two things she loves in life!
In free time Lily loves to go walking, reading, catching up on the theatre and films and meditate, of course! She's not fond of the London tubes, they make her claustrophobic. She also writes this blog.

Jeff dewhurst

Jeff is based in London, is one of the founding members of CIS and works for the government for a living. In his spare time, he loves to meditate and actively talk to people about it, conducts CIS's seminars, and reads up on as much as he can, besides pumping weights and looking after his body!
As a vegetarian health freak, Jeff likes to actively talk about the information that flies around with regards to health in general and writes this column. In his spare time, he loves watching anime, and creating silly jokes. He dislikes honking cars.

Andrew fairwater

Andrew loves his music and is even studying it make a living out of it. He is another one of our founding members at CIS and has actively made music for our charity for the last three years! He enjoys meditating and thought combining music and the idea of attaining global peace through meditation would be a cool thing to do. He writes this column.
Andrew also coordinates with new members to make sure they get along the beginning sessions ok. He likes boxing, cats and trance music in life, besides eating biscuits. He dislikes DJ's faking skills on the turntable.

Marvin poynter

Marvin likes science and reading up on all the cool developments in the world and is constantly looking for new information he can get hold of! He is another founding member of our charity and does statistics for a living. He is very fond of the Vedas and loves finding new ideas from them and likes to see how it bridges with our modern lives.
Marvin also writes this column. He loves metal music (he even plays it!), sketching and spicy food! He dislikes long drives.

Anthony poole

Anthony got invovled with CIS as he had been practising Yoga and wanted to develop a more meditative style of practise. Four years on, and still a regular practitioner, he has now taken up teaching Beginners Level students in Liverpool.
He enjoys yoga, music and reading and drama. Although he's not too keen on house parties. Anthony once even directed a play and also took part in a TaeKwon Do tournament whilst at university.

Dr Kavita Vachaknavee
Dr Kavita Vachaknavee actively pursues Vedic research and advises CIS Team for newer topics for its newsletters and podcasts. Her research helps Dr Chandra include several topics and issues in our learning sessions. She is very active on social media and helps project CIS on the social media. She has been very laborious in fundraising for CIS through her blogs and emails to her extensive network.

Nina is a postgraduate student. She has always been interested in meditation and yoga, but what she really loves about CIS is the scientific approach it takes to explain why meditation is so amazing.
She has volunteered for CIS for the past two years and currently coordinates our sessions at the University of Birmingham. In life, she generally likes vegetarianism as a way of life and diet, fresh air and painting. |
miri shalini

Miri is a University teacher in the Modern Language Department at the University of Liverpool and has actively practiced meditation and Yoga for many years.
As a CIS-volunteer she coordinates the sessions at the University of Liverpool. Since joining CIS she has become more interested in the philosophy of Yoga. Her mission is to demystify meditation and to bring it to a wide range of people, showing them how important it is for both body and mind! Besides yoga, she enjoys percussion music, philosophies, travelling and discovering warmer regions of this planet and cycling through Liverpool.

ambrose reynolds

Ambrose is the manager of the St Luke's Church aka Bombed Out Church in Liverpool, who also has a passion for meditation and helping out the homeless.
He is the coordinator of our Patanjali Meditation sessions at the church and has appeared in numerous video productions and an upcoming documentary project of CIS.
